The state Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments Tuesday on voter-approved tax limits that require a two-thirds vote of the Legislature to raise taxes.

Oregon's Supreme Court has today in it's schedule to hear arguments for approving tax limits requiring a two thirds vote of the Legislature to increase taxes,declares Kacey Montoya.

Lisa Brown,the Senate Majority Leader filed a lawsuit in April,saying that is an unconstitutional check on Legislature's power.

The two thirds vote requirements were approved in 1993,for the Initiative 601 and in 1994 for the Initiative 960.

Tim Eyman ,the sponsor of this initiative (he sponsored alsoand I-960) , declared to Kacey Montoya that the Democrats hope the clear the way and help raise taxes in the next year's session.

Please Help A Needy Clark County Schoolkid

An annual program to help needy Southwest Washington children get back-to-school clothing is having problems with cash this year.

Usual, the "Child Spree" program allows those children to buy in one of several Vancouver-area stores for up to $100 of clothing, close that they otherwise couldn't afford. Also in the past, a donor annually contributed 6,000 to the effort.

This year that donation didn't happen, so the call went out for help.This Monday afternoon, Target stores did announce a donation, but a lot more is needed. The Clark County operation is run out of the Vancouver office of the Division of Children and Family Services. More…
