Kacey Montoya reports that the South Coast tourism wasn't affected by the high gasoline prices and the road works this summer.

Cheryl Crockett, the manager of the Coos Bay Visitor Center declared to our special reporter Kacey Montoya that the area attracted visitors from Asia,Australia and Europe more than from United States. The foreign tourists occupied the hotels along the coast, most of them having high occupancy rates troughout the summer season.

American tourists also visited the area, but they didn't spent as much as the foreigners.

Kacey Montoya visited the Coos Bay-North Bend Visitor, where she found that the main attractions this summer were the salvaging of the New Carissa, the US Olympic Team trials and the discovery of the shipwrecked U.S.S. George L. Olson.
